SBCP Kickoff Success!

Published by admin on

On March 26, 2024 volunteer leaders representing eight communities as well as multiple concerned citizens, area leaders, and public servants gathered in support of the formation of the South Belt Community Partnership (SBCP).

The 2.5-hour long kickoff generally established the limits of the newly defined area called the South Belt, as well as discussed the many unique attributes and ubiquitous problems of the area. Much of the presentation built the case for why such a Partnership must exist; Namely to provide a more formidable foundation by which community leaders can address concerns identified across the area. Such concerns are out of the jurisdiction of each individual community but, are witnessed daily by the residents of the South Belt.

The newly formed organization with it’s new leadership in place, engaged in reviewing and later accepting versions of the mission and vision statements presented. These statements will serve to drive the overall direction of the organization. The Partnership’s new leadership team include community leaders from Clear Brook Meadows, Kirkwood, Lake at Golfcrest, Riverstone Ranch, Sageglen, Sagemeadow, Sagemont, and Sagemont Park.

Organizers of the kickoff wish to express thanks to Carmen Garza, owner of The Gardens – Houston who graciously provided her facility for this important event. Thanks to the many volunteers who were instrumental in the creation of this Partnership, and in support of the logistics of putting on this event. Thanks for the support shown by representatives from Rep. Dennis Paul’s office, Rep. Mary Ann Perez’s office, and the Precinct 2 Commissioner’s office. Thanks to Clear Brook Meadows HOA, Sagemont Civic Club, Kirkwood Civic Club, Sageglen CA, and Sagemeadow HOA for their financial contributions supporting the kickoff. Finally, special thanks to Precinct 2 Constable, Jerry Garcia, South Belt – Ellington Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Lisa Holbrook and Marie Flickinger for taking the time to support this new organization.

The next meeting of the Partnership will be Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be once again at The Gardens, 12001 Beamer Rd. While only the new leadership team is expected to attend, the meeting is open to all.
